Cost & Insurance

Quality orthodontic care should fit your budget.

How much do braces cost?

Every smile is different, so the cost depends on the type of treatment you choose and how long it takes. At your free consultation, Dr. Wesley will walk you through your options and give you an exact cost and timeline before you commit to anything.

Is the first consultation really free?

Yes. Your first consultation at any of our three offices is free, with no obligation. You’ll leave knowing your treatment options, your timeline and your exact cost.

Do you accept dental insurance?

Yes. We work directly with your insurance provider to help cover the cost of treatment, and our team will help you understand your orthodontic benefits.

Do you offer payment plans or financing?

Yes. We offer in-office payment plans tailored to your budget and welcome CareCredit as a convenient payment option. Both can be combined with your insurance benefits.

Do you offer any discounts?

Yes. We offer special discounts for military personnel, police, fire department and EMS. It’s our way of saying thank you to those who serve and protect our community.

Kids & Teens

Helping your child grow into a healthy, confident smile.

At what age should my child first see an orthodontist?

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends a first orthodontic checkup by age 7. Many children don’t need treatment yet, but an early visit lets Dr. Wesley spot developing issues and plan the best time to start. Learn about children’s orthodontics.

How do I know if my child needs braces?

Common signs include crowded, crooked or overlapping teeth, gaps between teeth, an overbite, underbite or crossbite, a lingering thumb or finger habit, and trouble chewing. A free consultation is the surest way to know whether treatment is needed now, later or not at all.

Can my child start treatment while they still have baby teeth?

Yes. Some children benefit from early treatment while baby teeth are still present. It can guide jaw growth and make room for permanent teeth, which can make later treatment shorter and simpler.

What treatment options do you offer for teens?

Teens can choose from traditional metal braces, tooth-colored clear braces or Invisalign® clear aligners. We’ll help you pick the option that fits your teen’s needs, school and activities.

Treatment Options & Timing

Finding the right fit for your smile and your schedule.

Can adults get braces?

Absolutely. It’s never too late for a healthier, straighter smile. Many of our patients are adults, and discreet options like clear braces and Invisalign® make treatment easy to fit into work and daily life. See adult treatment options.

What's the difference between braces and clear aligners?

Braces are fixed to your teeth and work around the clock. Clear aligners like Invisalign® are removable trays you wear most of the day and take out to eat, brush and floss. Dr. Wesley will recommend the option that works best for your bite and your lifestyle.

Do you offer clear braces?

Yes. Our clear braces use tooth-colored brackets that blend in with your smile while working just like traditional braces.

How long does orthodontic treatment take?

It depends on your needs. Treatment can take anywhere from several months to about two years. You’ll get a personalized estimate at your free consultation.

What happens if I wait to start treatment?

Bite and alignment problems can get worse over time and may make treatment more involved later. That said, it’s never too late to start. We’ll help you decide on the right timing for you or your child.

Your First Visit

Here's what to expect when you come see us.

What happens at my first orthodontic consultation?

Our team will welcome you and help with any paperwork. Dr. Wesley will examine your teeth and bite using digital imaging, talk with you about your goals, and explain your treatment options, cost and timeline. Read more about your first visit.

Do I need a referral from my dentist?

No. You’re welcome to schedule a consultation directly with us. We’re also happy to coordinate with your family dentist throughout treatment.

Will I need messy impressions?

No. We use iTero® digital scans and 3D imaging instead of traditional impressions, so your records are quick, accurate and comfortable.

Should I fill out forms before my visit?

You can save time by completing our new patient forms before your first appointment and bringing them with you.

How do I schedule an appointment?

Request an appointment online or call the office nearest you: Fort Gratiot Twp at 810-984-2208, Marysville at 810-388-9958 or Richmond at 586-727-3838.

During Treatment

We're here for you every step of the way.

What should I do if a wire is poking or a bracket comes loose?

Cover a poking wire with orthodontic wax for comfort. If a bracket comes loose, leave it in place if you can. Then call our office and we’ll get you in for a quick fix. See our braces care tips and videos.

What foods should I avoid with braces?

Avoid hard, sticky and chewy foods such as hard candy, nuts, popcorn, ice, caramel and gum. They can bend wires and break brackets, which can slow down your treatment.

How do I keep my teeth clean with braces?

Brush after meals, floss daily with a floss threader or superfloss, and keep up with regular cleanings at your dentist. Our Care for Braces page has step-by-step videos.

About Our Practice

Experienced, personalized orthodontic care close to home.

What's the difference between a dentist and an orthodontist?

An orthodontist is a dentist who has completed additional years of specialized training in straightening teeth and correcting bites. Choosing an orthodontist means your treatment is planned and managed by a specialist.

Who is the orthodontist at Wesley Orthodontics?

Dr. Robert K. Wesley earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Detroit Mercy and completed his orthodontic residency at the State University of New York at Buffalo. He has run his own practice since 2001 and sees patients himself at every appointment.

Where are your offices?
